The Project

According to the Every Day Hero Campaign, an every|day hero is:

Everyday: ordinary, everyday people performing heroic actions for people, organizations and issues

Every Day: being someone willing to be aware and present every day to your surroundings, your environment, and your culture; have your eyes and ears open every day to what circumstances may be in front of you that require action — heroic action!

Be the person who is thankful for the small things.

Often times we get so caught up in what we don't have, that we don't take the time to reflect and be thankful for all of the small things in our lives. This week, take the time to pause and think about, what are you thankful for?

  1. I uh like a couple of weeks ago, well i guess more but like our refrigerator broke. this is how we get our drinking water, so anyways i didn't get drinking water much. we had to get water from the shops and had to go out and buy a one of those water container things. This has never happened to me before. so we were out of sufficient drinking water for at least a gud month. it made think about all those times when i took it for granted and wasted water and how badly its important for use on a daily basis. Its one of those things that you don't really care much for because you know that it will always be in your kitchen.

  2. This Blog is the hardest so far, because i'm thankful for so much! I'm SUPERRRR SUPEEERR thankful for my sisters! I don't say it as much as i should, probably because they've always been here so i just assume they know? My 4 Sisters and i are really close and tell each other everything. We're all best friends <3 I cant imagine being an only child and not having people to come home to. I'm glad i have them (:

  3. I am thankful for my role in responsibility; it is my choice on which things I may put more responsibility into. My parents have so much to worry about like bills, to payments, to family struggles. All I have to do is sit back, do some chores, homework, and that is all. I am thankful for my role in responsibility because unlike many teenagers in Africa, I do not have to take care of my siblings and become the parent. I am aware that there are teenagers in the United States who struggle with being the parent figure in the family, but these teens have so much more to work with than those who live in Africa. A teenager who may have the same responsibility in the United States can work at a McDonald's, while a teenager in Africa will struggle to find work and food for their sibling(s). I cannot imagine how it must feel to take that honorable role of responsibility; to become a parent at a young age is difficult and to see many of these teens working hard for whom they love, it breaks my heart that they have no one else to lean on. For that I solute them and their incredible strength, and I am thankful for my role in responsibility. I'm blessed. <3

  5. Im thankful for the roof over my head, the hot running water, and the stove. I dont know what i would do without those things. Another thing im thankful for is my boyfriend. My boyfriend is not only just my boyfriend but he is also my bestfriend. I have known him for the last 6 years, and he has always been there for me. We have so many memories together. We have been through thick and thin. Even though we stopped talking for a whole year. We started talking again, and it was just like old times. I couldnt ask for anyone or anything better then him. He is all that i want. But the thing im MOST thankful for is my mom. Gowing up my dad wasnt around. My mom was the only person that i had. I watched her struggle, and try her hardest for me and my little sister. My mom does everything for me. I honestly dont know what i would do without her. My mom is probably the strongest person i know. And she has such a caring heart. She would do anything for anyone. When im older i hope to be just like her. Me and her do have our arguements, but at the end of the day i could always count on her. I know she will never judge me. My mom plays a big role in my life, and she means the world to me, but basically thats what im thankful for!

  7. I am thankful for my parents who give me shelter, food, and utilities. I forget about how much they work to provide these things for our family and I take them for granted because Ive always had them and never appreciated them; to me they are "natural" things/ resources everyone have but in reality only the fortunate are able to obtain all of their necessities.

  9. I think I am most thankful for my parents, their jobs, and the little things that they do to keep me warm and healthy. They don't have to buy me winter clothes or heavier jackets, or their benefits. They Don't have to go to the doctors when I say I am feeling sick. I know how it feels to have a parent loose their job and go on a budget. These things are something you don't think about every day. When it comes time for winter shopping they don't have to buy you that name brand shirt but they do it to make you happy and let you know how much they care. It is good to think about the little things in life such as jobs. I am very thankful that both of my parents are able to support me.

  10. I am thankful to be alive and well. All throughout my life my family and I have been struggling. I’m grateful for everything my parents do for me and I try my best to spend each day like it would be my last. I always felt our lives shouldn’t be measured by how long our years are but how we spent them. Trying not to take anything for granted and being thankful for everything that has happened. Even though a lot of things that happened to me were bad I know everything that has happened has led me to where I am now and that has happened for a reason. In my opinion everyone should be grateful just to be breathing or to have been born into this world because a lot of unfortunate souls didn’t have the chance.

  11. I am thankful for having a family that supports me and pushes me to strive better than just doing the minimum. I am also thankful for knowing that I have a safe warm place to sleep each and every night.

  13. I am thankful for having a great parents. My parents had been throught alot just to give me and my sister a home and have something to eat everyday. Even though it is sad that I hardly get to see my dad, but its not his fault that my mom can't work. But, I'm thankful for his hard work because if it wasn't for him and his two job, i have no clue where I would be at right now.
